If you have any money to spare then please donate to a Queensland flood relief fund. Or a Brazil relief fund. Or just give money to people in need...
-----------------------------------
I can't believe how much of the country has been flooded in the past few weeks. The footage of the Queensland floods were terrifying. And now parts of Victoria are being washed away.
I can see the effects on fruit and veg at the market. So many stalls are closed and many more have less produce than usual.
There isn't any flooding near my parent's place but I was telling my friends that my parents were safe from future floods, since they lived on a hill. It was fires that were the major concern in that area.
I was proved wrong the next day when I visited. A creek overflowed onto the main road. Thankfully the creek along the other route was fine so we weren't cut off from the dogs (though I insisted that we drive back and take a picture). So while my parents are directly safe from any future floods (and some scientists are claiming that this will be more likely. Damn you climate change!), there is a good chance that they will be isolated, perhaps without power.
I really like Australia but I think I'd like it a lot more without the mix of droughts, fires, and floods.
