A new year: the beginning of the end

2011.
Shit...

I'm on the home-stretch now. In September I will submit my thesis and leave my cocoon of safety. I'm both excited and terrified.
Certainly I will go crazy during the second half of the year as I do nothing but analyse and write. I imagine I shall spend my days at home in my pj's with a constant supply of tea (thanks for the teapot, mum) and breaking at noon for lunch while watching Dr. Phil.

Previously I have sulked that Journal Editors have been rejecting my papers. After two rejections each, I finally got them both accepted.
I submitted the not-really-interesting paper to a relatively new journal and it got accepted a few days later. What, no reviewers? Sweet! It's already available online, which is awesome. No idea when it will be officially published though.
The awesome-paper-of-awesomeness was accepted over my christmas break. What is the point of allowing the option to mark when you will be away if they ignore it? Still I shouldn't complain...it only cut into a little bit of my break. The reviewers seemed to really like the paper. Yay me! Even better was that none of the changes involved more lab work. Just analysis (which has been a bit of a bitch to do) and rewording a few things.
